Introduction

I am an education major at Salem State University and this blog was created for my social studies curriculum block class. I will discuss the controversy over Planned Parenthood. Many people believe that Planned Parenthood is just a place where women go to get birth control, but it is much more than that. Planned Parenthood provides a variety of services, for both men and women. The amount of services that Planned Parenthood provides is so vast that I will go into detail about them later, but to give you an idea, they provide, annual exams, vaccinations, counseling, patient education, and STD testing. In 2010 the Affordable Care Act was signed into effect by Barack Obama and the Supreme Court. This law provides new coverage options and the tools you need to make informed choices about your health. As of right now, women have the right to choose their reproductive healthcare, but the upcoming election could change that. Visit http://www.ppvotesnw.org/our-policy-possitions/ to see information on Planned Parenthood's policies. I believe that women should have the right to choose their own reproductive healthcare and that Planned Parenthood is an organization that should continue to receive federal funds.
